A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in Houston, Texas partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a local U.S. veteran with a grant. Along with a donation, the Houston branch held a residential housing “boot camp” to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to best handle the home-purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.
The honoree at this event was U.S. Army veteran Neal Johnson, who was given a family grant of $10,000.
Marc and Matt Wood are co-branch managers of the Houston branch and enjoy putting on these events for veterans. They said:
“We love to see AWI boot camps help our local real estate professionals, but the opportunity to honor a veteran is why we continue to host these around the state each year. Our time with Neal in Houston was worth the entire day. It was a great opportunity to meet a need in his family and bring the community together to honor Neal and our military and first responders.”
Steve Curtis, a producing branch manager in the Houston area, was also in attendance. He commented:
“The money we raised from this event will give 10-15 veterans the prosthetics that they can’t currently afford. \What other company brings our community together for a purpose like that? It really gives our real estate partners a good look at who we are on the inside!”
Caroline Edwards, a producing area sales manager in greater Houston, was likewise happy to be involved. She said:
“It’s so hard to explain how amazing it feels to be able to work for a company that cares about our veterans. Though we can never give enough to repay veterans like Neal and his family, their sacrifice is so appreciated, and I am so thankful for the men and women who serve to protect this great nation. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
Co-founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation. AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, please give me a call.Tags: Veterans
